A TOP athlete is boxing clever as he purses his dream of world domination
A TOP athlete is boxing clever as he purses his dream of world domination.
Richmond School and Sixth Form College student Rohan Wardale has already collected an impressive array of wins as he builds his reputation as a lightweight boxer.
The 18-year-old, of Richmond, has been boxing for the past five years and has competed at the highest level, recently against the six times national champion.
As well as boxing, he is also a British Kickboxing champion, has represented the North-East in a competition staged in the Channel Island and is a black belt in freestyle kickboxing and mixed martial arts.
“I was looking for a sport, joined a boxing gym and just love it,” said Rohan, who has secured an unconditional offer to study sports science at Sheffield Hallam University.
“I’m hoping to be scouted by Team GB and would love to box at the Olympics before turning professional and winning a world title.”
Assistant head teacher Leslie Richardson said: “It is great to see that Rohan is so committed to his sport and that he has such a clear vision of where it could take him.
“Equally important is that he is thinking ahead academically and we are delighted that Rohan has worked hard at his studies and has already secured a place at university.”
